Sir Kevin Satchwell - Headmaster
This year, our Year 11 students again achieved outstanding GCSE results: 99.4% of the year group achieved a remarkable 12 GCSEs or more at the higher A*-C grades including Maths and English which is well above the Government benchmark. In addition, all the students achieved at least two Science A*-C grades. The A Level results were also once more outstanding this year
For several years now, Thomas Telford School has been one of the top performing comprehensive schools in the country. It is, therefore, not surprising that may people ask me to provide reasons why Thomas Telford School is doing so well. Of course, there are many reasons but the main ones must relate to the good order within the School where bullying is not tolerated, there are high levels of parental participation in supporting their children and there is an atmosphere where all the students feel comfortable about being successful without the fear of others ridiculing them.
We are particularly proud of our Sixth Form students with 144 out of 151 gaining their first choice university this year. Everyone involved with this School knows what is expected of them and enjoys being part of a very successful team.
The staff work very hard indeed and gain much satisfaction from supporting students to succeed. It all seems worthwhile when the self esteem of our students is noticeably evident for all to see when they visit Thomas Telford School.
