Richard Thomas in 6.2 has been chosen as this week’s Star Student to celebrate his skills and success in design and ICT.
Before entering TTS Sixth Form, Richard had a week’s work experience at Beeswift Limited where he was taught how to use Flash and Dreamweaver for basic tasks. When he returned to Beeswift this year, Richard then was able to further his skills by designing a website for their new product ranges. He was also given a brief to create a new design for the company’s American website to make it look more ‘patriotic’ and American for customers.
Richard has also received other commissions. For Sainsbury’s in Glasgow, Richard designed a booklet for staff for the opening day of their largest store in Scotland. He was also commissioned to design a DVD case and layer for DVDs for the store. He is now undertaking a commission for a local plant centre in Telford, designing their website for customers.
At School, Richard was asked to help other students with the use of Adobe Flash so he created a tutorial on how to use flash and design a product. With the skills he learnt during his work experience, he has been able to expand his knowledge of Adobe products, designing videos using Premiere and After Effects which he has been able to use in his ICT Multimedia Product.
Richard obviously has a real passion for what he does so it is not surprising that he wants to study Computer Science at University followed by a career in the business. Good luck, Richard, you deserve every success!
